Settings & Privacy

Customize every aspect of MetaDock — from appearance and browser defaults to API configuration and privacy modes. Open settings anytime with Ctrl+,.

Settings Categories

Settings are organized into categories. Here's what you'll find in each:

General

Language, startup behavior (which workspace loads), default profile for new layouts.

Appearance

Theme selection, icon scale, fonts, and color customization. Make MetaDock look exactly how you want.

Layout & UI

Auto-tiling behavior, toolbar mode (horizontal/vertical), auto-hide, window transparency. Fine-tune your workspace layout.

Browser

Default zoom level, search engine, user scripts toggle, extension management. Control how all browsers behave by default.

Trading

Enable/disable trading features and configure symbol providers. Turn on to get the F6/F7 Quick Symbol tools.

Privacy & Security

Stealth mode passwords (for F2 and F8). Control who can reveal hidden browsers.

API & Automation

API host, port, and API key configuration. MCP server toggle. This is where you set up access for scripts and AI assistants.

Advanced

Developer options and experimental features. Only change these if you know what you're doing.

Search Filters

With dozens of settings, the search bar is the fastest way to find what you need. But MetaDock also supports special filter commands:

@modifiedShow only settings you've changed from defaults. Great for seeing what you've customized.

@interfaceShow UI-related settings (appearance, layout, toolbar).

@browserShow browser-related settings (zoom, search engine, scripts).

@apiShow API and automation settings (port, host, key, MCP).

Troubleshooting tip: If something isn't working as expected, type @modified in settings search to see everything you've changed. Often the fix is reverting a setting you forgot you changed.

Themes

MetaDock comes with 5 built-in themes:

Modern

You can also create custom themes by modifying colors for backgroundColor, textColor, and titleColor. Save your custom theme to reuse it, or export it to share with others.

Privacy & Stealth Modes

MetaDock includes two privacy modes designed for sensitive environments — whether you're at work, sharing a screen, or just need instant privacy.

F8 — Hide & Mute Single Browser

Press F8 on any browser panel to instantly hide its content and mute its audio. The panel goes blank — nobody can see what was on it.

Use case: Someone walks up to your desk while you're browsing something personal. F8 hides just that panel. Your other work panels stay visible and normal.

F2 — Hide Entire Interface

Press F2 to completely hide MetaDock's entire interface and mute all audio. The whole application disappears.

Use case: You're about to share your screen in a meeting. F2 hides everything at once. When the meeting's over, press F2 again (or enter your password) to bring it all back.

Ctrl+Alt+M — Mute All

Mute/unmute all audio across every browser and media source in one keystroke. Everything goes silent instantly.

Both F8 and F2 support optional password protection. Set a password in Settings → Privacy & Security and nobody can reveal the hidden content without it. You can also disable these features entirely if you don't need them.
